Many people seem to think that when a carpet is new it should not be vacuumed.In fact, there’s no need to wait, you can vacuum straight away if you want.

You may be surprised how many fibres are vacuumed out, and your carpet may also shed some fluff for some time after fitting..The shedding is caused by short lengths of loose fibres left over from the manufacturing process.When a new cut pile carpet is vacuumed, sometimes odd tufts or loose strands stand above the pile.

This is called sprouting and is quite normal.Tufts that are longer than the others are compressed in the pile and are lifted up by vacuuming.

They should be trimmed off with a pair of scissors if they trouble you rather than pulling them, as you don’t want to damage your carpet.. Why a Good Vacuum is Important.
